Advice?

Those who know me know that I request a lot of advice and value it very highly. Now I'm looking for some good advice!

So far, Lilia only really cries for two reasons:
1. She's in or near the bathtub or
2. She's digesting or working on pooping.

So, has anybody had a baby who seems like it's in huge pain when it's digesting or pooping? Is there anything that can be done? The pediatrician said it's normal, but it's seriously painful to watch!

And does anyone have any advice to make baths more tolerable?

I can't believe she's going to be a month old on Saturday....

It's funny remembering little things like that. ;) The crying during pooping might be diaper rash -- but I'm assuming you would have seen that already when you changed her. I'm also going to agree that it's normal, and it shouldn't last much longer (a few months at the most). Bathtime fussiness is another matter. I think there is a reason most kids don't like bathtime later on in life -- and it's because they know they've cried about it from an early age. Using luke warm water should help, singing (consistently) during bathtime should eventually help, and trying to keep it brief should help. But akaik there are no silver bullets.

Oh man, I hate watching them suffer. O had quite a bit of that too. The pediatrician said it could be normal, or it could be a sensitivity to something I was eating. I cut back on dairy and eliminated chocolate all together. After that, she was great.
Trust yourself. Also, if she's gassy we found this wrap thing that worked wonders for her.
(it was called happi tummy or something like that).
She didn't like bath time when she was that little either. That one did pass quickly once she was a little more stable.
I agree about the singing/soothing. Krys and I always did the bath together when she was little to keep it as short as possible.
The one good thing about her crying in the bath though is once she was bundled up and fed, she slept for a good long stretch :)

I would say both are pretty normal. She's still little enough that any change to her little environment (i.e. water) is pretty disruptive.

As for digestion, you could try eliminating or cutting down on anything in your diet that might be troublesome (dairy, caffiene, etc) but it doesn't seem that abnormal.

Hi, Just catching up. Are you letting her float during the bath or just shallow water. Might be that she gets cold if not all the way in the water, or insecure about not being close to you. Have you or Jeff tried the bath tub with (as in bath together) her?
